I¨m writing for my English readers ,( well, not really English,... but English speaking readers, and I don´t know if I have a lot..., well, for the "one" who reads me), a very important and mind-easier thing that happened to me. I went with my 40 years´ friend Cristina, to the Tabaris Theatre, next to the Rex Cinema,downtown...
As I am not young, I had not gone to that part of downtown for quite a while...The tickets were bought by another lady, not quite "a friend of mine" , Rosita,( who was in the choir I´m part of, many years ago). She´s younger than us and she bought the tickets with a discount.
Well,..we waited for Rosita in tne theatre hall for an hour. It was a very cold evening. The door of the hall was open and well,...we couldn´t take off our heavy coats.
Finally she came with the tickets and we went in. We sat in row 4,next to the corridor. Nice place to be, at least in a theatre... .
The play began. Cristina told me the title,in a very low voice, she had read in the program. It was "Amor, dolor ...Y qué me pongo".Strange , I thought. Well, from that moment on,... my life changed....I laughed "all the time"...It was a very intelligent, sarcastic, without the slightest procacity or dirty words ,theatre play.
I clapped and clapped,...until my applause was the last sound heard ( or I least I thought so)...
I stood up and walked to the exit in extasis. The words and the actresses moving and laughing , or nearly crying , but only to the point of,...were in my head.
We went to a wellknown retaurant to have pizza,...and believe it or not,...I was a new Susan. Younger, prettier, happier...
We discussed the play with our differen points of view,...then, took a taxi and returned home.
The play was written , of course, by a genious, Nora Ephrom, who wrote the script of an "icon" in comedies, bright comedies,..."When Harry met Sally"... I saw that film so many times that I can tell you the whole of it, without forgetting a single part...
The next day I looked up in Google´s Messenger Plus and it is in Broadway, at present,...
That excellent play and that genuine laugh, were "a caress for my soul." I needed that "laugh". It´s rather difficult for me to laugh , if it´s not a really good thing ...
Well,..if you trust me, go to the theatre and see the play now...I wish I could see it in Broadway and in English. There , if you´re lucky enough, you can see "Love, loss,...and what I wore", written by Nora Ephrom.
Susienflores.
